Nothing can ruin the dream of being your own boss than getting involved in one of the thousands of internet work at home scams out there. It is a pretty safe statement to say that a large number of people would love to be able to work from home and make a living. Work at home scammers know that and prey on those looking to make a better life for themselves. With all kinds of scams these nefarious people attract anyone who has ever wanted to give their 9-5 the heave ho and start achieving their own goals. It is sad and it can destroy people.

The way to avoid work at home scams is to make up your own little litmus test for online business opportunities. The first thing to do is ask yourself if you actually understand what you are doing to make the money and who will be giving it to you. Scammers are really good at being vague on the actual service you will be providing and who will be benefiting from it. If it seems too complicated to be right, then it probably is. The one thing they aren’t vague on is how much money you can make. They say you can be a millionaire in no time and with no work. A little common sense tells you that just can’t be so.

Another tactic in your litmus test to avoid work at home scams is find out if there is a cost. Then ask yourself, would you pay to get a regular job? Most likely the answer would be no. And, that is what it should be to any internet money making program that asks you for an initial investment or membership fee. Because under those circumstances the only people making money are the ones collecting that initial investment or start up fee.

Not all internet opportunities are work at home scams though. There are indeed some legitimate ones, you just have to watch for them. Anything that offers actual compensation for actual work is most likely legitimate. And, if they are for real they won’t make crazy claims telling you that you will be the next Bill Gates. Typing at home jobs are a great example of legitimate work at home situations and telecommuting jobs as well. You are paid for the actual typing that you do. There is no mystery to that. You work, you get paid.
